37 week appointment
Sep 02First off, I want to thank Kecia for the gift card. It was a great surprise to wake up to and I’m positive that Gracie will get some use out of it. 
My aunt is also giving us a crib which converts to a toddler bed. It was used for approx 2 months for her step grand daughter but long story short, custody is back to the birth mother and my aunt and uncle stepped out of the fostering issue due to not wanting to deal with court cases for the next 21 years.
Oh, Sarah asked why Randy and Carrie were only together for a month. Randy stole a 4 wheel giving him a grand larceny charge in early summer 06 and was sent to a halfway house. There he met Carrie in August of 06. They got married in Oct 06 and he told her to GTFO a week before Thanksgiving. He was drinking and stupid. Besides court, they haven’t seen each other since. Now things are much better. He doesn’t drink, smoke pot, or go around breaking the law. His nose is clean and he’s taking care of fines and legal obligations he may have caused in the past. She is a whole ‘nother situation and my definition of white trash. She’s lost custody of her illegitimate child multiple times due to neglect. (And I don’t think she knows who the father is still. She tried pinning it on Randy. Someone’s isn’t stupid enough to just believe her and demanded a paternity test. Ding Ding, NOT the father. Kthxbye)
Today was my 37 week checkup and everything is still going smoothly. One confusing thing is that my doctor always says I’m 2 days ahead of my original due date. I’m assuming he changed it when he read the 17 week ultrasound. If so, I’m due the 20th and not the 22nd. He said my platelet count is the best he has in his practice (TYVM iron pills). I kinda made a mess b/c as soon as he stopped the ultrasound I sat right up because I get horribly sharp pains in my lower sides when laying flat on my back and the gel got all over but that’s OK. He said he’d see me next week and then stopped and said “Unless she decides to make her appearance before then of course” That made Randy and I go woaaaaaaaah, this is for real. She is coming VERY shortly but who knows exactly when.
I’m really glad he hasn’t done any cervical checks on me. I don’t feel they’re necessary because you can be dilated for weeks before anything occurs. I’m trying for a natural birth with NO PICOTIN to speed things up. My body will do what it needs when it is good and ready thank you VERY much. I’m also hoping to avoid an epidural due to having seizures. There is an increased risk and I finally have them under control with medication. I don’t need any issues or distress during labor which results in a c-section.
And now it’s time to go work on ChaCha to help pay bills while Randy pulls his 3rd 12 hour shift in a row (mmm, overtime).
Trying to be optimistic
Sep 01I’m trying to keep a positive view on this shitty circumstances by reminding myself that it’s over and done with, we can’t change it. I’m grateful that the court proceedings are done and no amendments can be made to the amount that would cause even more hardship to us. I’m also hoping I never have to see her troll of a face again. We will be able to pay in weekly amounts much like child support works but that amount per week is still yet to be determined. They factor in costs of living/wages and us being married and his dependents will definitely assist with keeping the amount low over a longer period of time. She is what she is and karma will come back to bite her.
In the larger scheme of things it’s only money. I have him and we are expecting our daughter in only a short time period. We have a dog we love to death, a place to live (although we may have to penny pinch a bit more), and can afford a few luxuries like internet and the occasional going out to eat. We’re both in good health and have amazing family support networks.
Now onto more cheery topics, today I am officially 37 weeks or full term. This excites me somewhat but doesn’t in some other ways because I’ve known women who can go to 42 weeks. I’m hoping I’m not one of those. I have my weekly doctor appointment tomorrow which is usually a quick and painless ultrasound to check the heart beat, fluid, and my blood pressure along with amniotic fluid amounts. She’s low right now as I can tell by the pressure on my bladder 24/7 and on my girly bits as well. I’ve also got comments that it looks like I dropped. Randy and I are going to be installing our car seat sometime this week, complete with a garbage bag over it to avoid Colby hair sticking to it. He rides to/from work everyday when I pick up and drop Randy off. It’s his treat of the day.
And on that note I’m going to ChaCha for another 45 minutes before going to pick him up. He’s pulling a 12 hour shift today. Overtime has been very gracious lately.
Court results
Aug 31Well Randy had court this morning and it definitely did not go as planned. Background: He met Carrie in Aug of 06. They got married Oct 06, they split before Thanksgiving 06. She got knocked up by another guy mid Dec 06.
In Jan 07 she filed a spousal support petition and he was supposed to go to court in July of 07 for the ruling. Being in a halfway house, he didn’t. He could’ve been granted permission to leave, done it over the phone, etc.. but he didn’t. They defaulted against him for the amount of $75/week. He got this notice in prison which he was in from Nov 30, 07 until Dec 1, 08. He ended up filing a paternity petition while in to contest that along with a divorce, which never went through due to the paternity issue taking months to resolve. He filed AGAIN for divorce in Dec 08 and it was finally granted in June of 09.
According to the judge, when the divorce was finalized the order was nullified. Since he didn’t file a petition before this time period he is responsible for retroactive spousal support from the period of Jan 07 until May of 09 which is close to 2 1/2 years. At $75/week, it adds up real quick. Nevermind that she had a kid by another man. Or that he never worked once during the entire marriage or relationship whatsoever. Or that he was serving time in prison for a year. Because he didn’t go to court 1 day he is expected to pay that stupid cunt bag over $10,000 for being a whore.
Thanks NY. You really make a lot of fucking sense. She tried saying today they were still married and we had to get an adjournment for 1/2 hr to go pay $12 to get a copy of the divorce from the clerk there. We also had to drive an hour and a half each way to the court house. Poor little Carrie, the victim. She was saying on the way out “I still get money” to someone. It pisses me off because we’re struggling as it is and now she is getting his hard earned money when she doesn’t deserve a goddamned penny of it, especially considering the circumstances. There is nothing he can do to appeal it either because he didn’t show up for court that 1 day (which was 2 1/2 hours away from the HH but that doesn’t matter either apparently).
