Apple Umpkin Festival

Apple Umpkin Festival

Sep 27

Today we (Gracie, my sister, mom, aunt Lisa, cousin, and I) all went to the Apple Umpkin festival which is a craft fair fall festival thing in this little town around here. I saw so many cute things I wanted to buy but I am poor so I didn’t get anything. It was nice to spend time with them though and we walked around. Gracie loves going around in her stroller and waving hi to everyone. It’s adorable.

The bad part was I had a seizure this morning in my sleep. My dad, brother, and his friend all witnessed it. (First time for them). It creeped them out beyond belief. All I know is that I am sore right now from the thrashing and muscles tightening, my tongue is killing me, and I had a super headache all day. I got home and passed out for 4 hours. Gracie went to her other grandmother’s this evening. A blessing in disguise if you will since I was in no condition to do anything. Cold sweats suck as well.

After that nap though I am feeling a tad bit better. I just hope I don’t end up staying up all night now. Yuck. Oh, while I was sleeping Randy called 38 times. That is not a typo. He knows there is no money on the phone. Tough cookies. He’ll survive.

2 more days until my baby turns 1!!!!

Playstation Move in the Future

Playstation Move in the Future

Sep 22

This post brought to you by PlayStation(R) Move. All opinions are 100% mine.

My brothers got a playstation 3 when it first came out and played it endlessly. It made me want one eventually because hey, it's an awesome gaming system. I originally fell in love with the system when the original PS1 came out with the Crash Bandicoot series and have been hooked since. I once got a wii but it wasn't all it cracked up to be. The game selection was severely lacking for my genre personally.

When I heard about the PlayStation(R)MOVE I got rather excited because it brought the same functionality to the console that dominates our household. It is constantly on with some type of a game, mainly role playing games or the first person shooters. I think it would allow some versatility and get my two brothers and I to game more as a family together since it's mainly one person playing at a time. We could all use the exercise too (with the exception of my dad who is a bean pole already). The price is affordable as well at only $99 for the package. It's cheaper than some of the other packages we've purchased for the system.

There are a few different games available for it so far. I think my brothers will probably get my mom to buy it for them and Resident Evil 5 along with it while I'm personally probably going to pitch for one of the games like bowling or a fitness game. My brother might even try to get NBA2k11. I can only imagine how large the game selection is going to be in the future. It looks incredibly promising at this point.

1st birthday plans

1st birthday plans

Sep 20

My life lately has been consisting of a few simple things that don’t seem to change on a daily basis. It’s quite blah.

  • ChaCha. I do this for hours on end every day with a goal of about $400/month minimum
  • Picking up freelancing gigs
  • Spending time with Gracie. I do this on breaks between working and the majority of time that I do intense work is when she is already asleep or napping

It seems like there is little to no variety. It’s rather dull and seems like there isn’t much to look forward to lately. My birthday is October 11th and I’m going to be 23. I’m not really looking forward to it though. I don’t have any plans currently. I’m not going to the bar since I’m not drinking obviously. Gracie’s birthday is September 28th but we’re celebrating on October 2nd or 3rd. We’re doing a Winnie the Pooh theme. We have party hats, little plates, a first birthday bib, and a banner as well. Her cake is half chocolate and half vanilla with white frosting with a pink border and purple flowers. There is also a Winnie the Pooh figurine on it.

I can’t wait for that. I got her this 5 in 1 activity box thing that she is going to have a blast with. I also got her a mini drum since she likes to bang on things. I found a bubble machine yesterday for 75% off. It ended up being $2.50 and Gracie is absolutely fascinated by it.

Future Moving

Future Moving

Sep 20

It is very possible we will be moving sometime in the near future. We’re all hoping sooner rather than later but the financial situation is looking bleak until about February or so. We might end up spending the majority of winter here quite unfortunately. My parents are looking into buying a house if their credit can be tidied up a bit (in the words of the real estate agent).

We looked at a house we used to live in that is actually a full house on each side so in total it has 10+ bedrooms, a huge yard, and is overall in a great country location. It needs a lot of work though including new windows, possibly a new roof, painting, and flooring that isn’t yucky wood. If my parents do manage to score it we’ve been discussing allowing me to take the other half and paying half of the mortgage (since the hose is a handy man special it is only $50,000 so MAD cheap).

I’ve been thinking about various things I would definitely do if I got to customize it. I would definitely paint the walls bright colors because I’m so sick of living in areas that have darker walls that are gloomy. I would also get carpet in all rooms besides the kitchen and do something I’ve never been able to do in other places like get customized porcelain sinks. They look great and there are so many different types that are appealing to suit anyone’s tastes. A house should represent the people that live in it.

I pledge

I pledge

Sep 13

Today I’ve made a decision and it’s a big one, for me anyways. This decision is to abstain from alcohol completely. I’m pledging to never drink again whether it’s a wine cooler or liquor in order to get drunk.

My reasoning for this is incredibly deep and personal to me. My father has been an alcoholic as long as I can remember. The early 90′s actually. My earliest memories of him include him staying out until 8 or 9 at night after work and coming home drunk and passing out. Many nights I remember (since my mom didn’t have a license until she turned 36) not having any groceries because he was too busy getting drunk to take her grocery shopping on payday.

In the late 90′s he picked up an income tax return one night and bought alcohol. He slipped on ice and managed to flip his car. He broke 5 ribs that night and was out of commission for weeks. He still feels pain from that accident. Then he went to rehab sometime (forgetting the year) because his boss mandated it in order to keep his job. In 2003 he again, got drunk (and without a license mind you), hit a trailer parked on the side of the road. This sealed the nail in the coffin and he got fired. We were almost homeless and I remember working at 15 to help support our family. My sister did the same. He got fired in May and didn’t get re-hired at another farm until February of the next year.

He worked at this farm until he was fired in May of 2010. Again, drinking. My memories of him still consist of drinking constantly and spending hours in the garage. He sold feed from the farm in exchange for alcohol. He got fired because his boss found out he was drinking on the job while in the tractors and such. Again, my family was almost homeless. We now live in a trailer.

He can’t go without alcohol. He will buy an 18 pack on Friday during pay day and it will be gone by Saturday evening. Then it continues. When we went camping in August the drive was an hour and a half down to my aunts. We stopped at Dollar General to pick something up and he drank one while we were inside. Then we stopped somewhere else and he drank another while we were in. (He was driving). He couldn’t go an hour and a half with it in the vehicle and not touch it. Now his drinking is picking back up again and it’s becoming an almost every day occurrence yet again.

I also have seen alcohol play a huge part in Randy’s life. He can’t handle it and does stupid things when drinking (IE: DWI) He got his first before we met and stole a 4 wheeler. Things were OK but when we split he began drinking again and it went from an occasional weekend thing to an everyday and need to have a ton thing. He is now facing another 1-3 years in prison.

I don’t blame the alcohol as much as the factor of addiction. It is very real and I worry about my daughter falling into it as well since it is incredibly heavy in both of our families (all of my aunts and uncles on my mother’s side, my dad, his brother, and his parents as well).

I can handle alcohol. I can pick it up one day and put it down. I can go months or years without it. It’s definitely a take it or leave it type of thing and today I’m pledging to leave it, forever.
